Overview

Dania Beach Pier extends roughly 920 feet into the Atlantic Ocean from Dania Beach Ocean Park, providing anglers with substantial access beyond the surf zone. The city-owned pier is part of a beachfront park with more than 1,300 feet of ocean frontage.

The pier is designed for both fishing and sightseeing and includes ADA access. Its position on southeast Florida’s Atlantic coastline gives anglers opportunities to encounter resident coastal fish as well as seasonal migrants moving along the beach.

Fishing Tips

For pompano, use bottom rigs and smaller natural baits over sandy bottom. Spanish mackerel and bluefish often respond to spoons, jigs, and fast retrieves when baitfish are moving through.

Snook can relate closely to pier pilings and other structure. Use tackle strong enough to keep larger fish from wrapping the line around pilings, especially when fishing live bait close to the pier.

Bottom Line

A long Atlantic fishing pier in Broward County offering ocean fishing, beach access, bait-shop services, ADA access, and opportunities for a diverse range of southeast Florida species.

Who This Pier Is Best For

Fish Species Commonly Caught
Pompano, whiting, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jack crevalle, snapper (seasonal/structure), sheepshead, black drum, snook (seasonal), tarpon (seasonal)
Local Insights
Because the pier stays open late, night fishing can be productive when boat traffic calms and bait moves close. If the current is strong, add just enough weight to hold bottom without pinning the rig in place.
Pier Fishing Tips
Fish a simple weighted shrimp rig near the pilings for bottom species. Keep a second rod with a small metal spoon or jig for fast movers along the beach. Secure your rod and keep hooks simple (single hooks help with safer releases). Use a pier net/sling for larger fish.
Best Times to Fish
Dawn and late evening; incoming tide; spring–summer for tarpon and mackerel opportunities; winter for sheepshead/black drum around pilings.
