Overview

Eastport Breakwater Pier gives anglers access to the exceptionally tidal waters surrounding Eastport in far eastern Maine. The city sits beside Passamaquoddy Bay near the Bay of Fundy, an area famous for powerful tidal movement and deep coastal water.

The pier’s deep-water setting can make it particularly attractive when schools of mackerel or other baitfish move through the harbor. Pollock and other cold-water coastal species may also be encountered depending on season and conditions.

Fishing Tips

Metal jigs and mackerel rigs are useful when schooling fish are present. Because the water can be deep and currents strong, anglers may need heavier tackle than they would use from a sheltered beach or small harbor.
