Overview
Windy Bay Fishing Point provides shore access to Cave Run Lake near Morehead, one of eastern Kentucky’s best-known fishing reservoirs. Surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest, the lake combines productive fishing with a heavily wooded and scenic setting.
Cave Run is particularly famous for its muskellunge fishery, although anglers can also pursue bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and other freshwater species. That variety makes Windy Bay useful whether you’re fishing light tackle for panfish or searching for larger predators.
Fishing Tips
Crappie anglers can work small jigs around submerged cover, while bass anglers can use soft plastics, crankbaits, and other presentations around points and changes in depth.
Anglers specifically targeting muskellunge should use substantially heavier tackle and appropriate leaders. Because muskies can grow large, having suitable landing and release equipment is important.
Bottom Line
A scenic Cave Run Lake fishing spot offering opportunities for everything from crappie and bass to Kentucky’s highly prized muskellunge.
