The Fishing Pier at Angostura Recreation Area provides shore anglers with access to one of western South Dakota’s major reservoirs. Angostura Reservoir has an established warm-water fishery and is particularly known for walleye, smallmouth bass, and crappie, while also supporting northern pike, largemouth bass, yellow perch, and bluegill.

Fishing Tips

Walleye anglers can try jigs, crankbaits, and baitfish-oriented presentations, particularly during lower-light periods. Smallmouth bass can be targeted around rocky structure with tubes, soft plastics, and jigs, while crappie anglers can use small jigs around structure and changes in depth.
