Overview

Bishop Park Fishing Wharf provides anglers direct access to the Detroit River from downtown Wyandotte. This is a particularly attractive shore-fishing location because the Detroit River connects Lake St. Clair with Lake Erie and supports major seasonal fish movements.

Walleye are one of the premier targets, especially during the spring migration. White bass can also arrive in large numbers seasonally, while smallmouth bass, drum, perch, and catfish add variety.

Vertical jigging and casting jigs with soft plastics are popular approaches for Detroit River walleye. During the white bass run, smaller jigs and minnow-style presentations can produce fast action.
