Overview

Camp Cronin Fishing Area is a well-known shore-fishing location near Point Judith in Narragansett, placing anglers close to the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to Point Judith Pond. Unlike a conventional wooden fishing pier, this location is better understood as a coastal shore and jetty fishing area.

Its exposed coastal position provides opportunities for migratory striped bass and bluefish, while rocky structure can hold tautog. Scup and other Rhode Island saltwater species may also be available depending on season and conditions.

Fishing Tips

Striped bass anglers can work plugs, bucktails, soft plastics, and metal lures around moving water, especially during spring and fall migrations. Tautog anglers should concentrate around rocky structure with suitable bait and stout tackle.

This location deserves extra attention to wind, waves, slippery rocks, and changing ocean conditions. Avoid exposed rocks and jetty sections when surf conditions are unsafe.

Bottom Line

One of Narragansett’s more serious shore-fishing locations, offering access to striped bass, bluefish, tautog, and other Atlantic species around Point Judith.
